So it snowed in Austin...I took some pics with my phone sent them home (WV) and people were like, "Nice, there's been show here since Thanksgiving!"...I don't miss the cold, but one thing I don't look forward to is the Texas Heat...EFF...that's a problem for future Matt to deal with.

So...this past weekend, we headlined the Dirty Dog (on 6th) with Duke and HellGoat...great show...great crowd...and great High Life!! Sunday we played the Slinging Ink Tattoo Expo, courtesy of Nikita Productions in San Antonio and had a blast as always...I have never seen so much metal...ink...and blood in one place.

SSP is currently scheduling studio time...more on that as soon as we get it.

Next shows up: 3/5 @ Red Eyed Fly with Butcherwhite and Mike Truth and the Replacement Killers...and 3/6 @ Clicks with our brothers from San Antonio, Dest. Evolution.

Pretty excited about both shows, however the show @ Red Eyed Fly, we have a special treat for everyone, we will be giving away free stuff all night, from SSP shirts...to Butcherwhite CD's...to .... DRUM ROLL!!

Motorhead Tickets!!!

That's right...leave it up to your ol' buddy Matt to throw a party!! All you got to do is show up...and we'll draw raffles throughout the night...so that should be pretty bitchen.

Back at it, gots tons of stuff to do...

Dead Mean Can't Get Drunk!!

Top of the evening!! I'm feeling a bit St. Patty's day just because I was browsing ideas for an upcoming poster.

In the Words of Inspector Gadget, "WoWSA!" ... that's all I have to say about last weekends trip to San Angelo. We took our good flexible friends, The Brass Ovaries and needless to say...it was raining Bills all night long! After the long hoe back to Austin a shower was taken, some food was eaten and down to San Antonio we hit Zombies for our 1130 showtime.

Now Zombies...cool spot...nice big stage (which I like!)...need some work on the sound issue...when you have a room that big...and empty...the sound just blurs like your vision after too many Deadhorses!! All in all, it was a great show, we got to meet some kickass peeps that have been following the Pain Train, and Lonestar is $1.75...CASE CLOSED!!

So this week...I've just been gearing up for our show @ The Dirty Dog tomorrow night, we're playing with Hellgoat and Duke...Hellgoat is from Ft. Worth, we played with them before in Fort Worth; and Duke is a fellow Austin Rocker that do a great job.

On a not so side not...some dude flew his airplane into the IRS building here in Austin today...about 3 stone throws from where I upkeep my illustrious day job. Turns out he was pissed @ the IRS (who isn't) and decided to fly his 2 seater into the building itself! Hold the phones!!

Now before anyone else gets any wild hairs crossing their ass and want to go killing themselves consider these next key points:

-Suicide is a Permanent solution to a temporary problem
-Chicks do not dig dead dudes
-Dead Men Can't Get drunk!!

So...I would think long and hard about it before taking that final step, if nothing else...give your life to SSP and I will give you a free shirt, koozie, you can help carry equipment, and help me flyer...and I might buy you a beer from time to time...that sure as hell beats burning to death in an IRS building...of all places!!

I like to burn on the beach, with my toes in the sand watching the ladies walk by.

Either way...cheerz to all my homies!

If I were You!

Hola...como esta!!

Wow...well the last couple of days have been a whirlwind, but that's the name of the game and in this business, that's good!!

We just confirmed the Headlining Slot for River City Bike Fest / Slinging Ink Tattoo Expo via our good buddies Nikita Productions. They handle all the bitchin festivals in San Antonio...we first made acquaintances via South Texas Rock Fest...man that feels like ages ago, but was only 2 years.

A lot has come and gone in 2 years...some for the good and some for the bad, but I must admit, upon looking back on it, I wouldn't change anything and have no regrets...well there was that one night I took 2 Deadhorses...probably should've left that to just 1 however...if you're going to be dumb you gotta be tough!!

Speaking of Deadhorses...tonight we ride to San Angelo, where we headlining The Deadhorse, we are bringing with us the Brass Ovaries...this is Austin's Elite Mobile Pole Dancing Squad!! We have played with them before @ Red eyed Fly, and it was amazing...it is quite complicated to concentrate on playing my guitar and singing with these gorgeous ladies flying around the bar...however I must say, that is a good problem to have :) .

So I haven't posted some lyrics lately, so I figured I would do that...we have worked several new songs into our set, to tighten them for recording purposes...so I'll pick one of them. "Southern Song" is a toast to my personal roots of growing up in small town America, listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, ZZ Top, Charlie Daniels, The Kentucky Headhunters...and many more. I do have to tip my hat to the ol' man, little did he know through his beer drinking and deck parties was he helping sculp the musician I would grow to be. I hold that part of my life very close and dear...mix that with my Metallica/Megadeth/GNR/Motley/Pantera influence and I think you have one deadly concoction for world domination ... but anyways enough about me...back to the music!!

Oh that Southern Sky’s so Blue…Lord Don’t take it away

Oh that Southern Style’s so true…Lord knows that I can’t stay

Come morning time I’ll be up and gone with another town and a nother southern…

Oh that Southern Song…Dear Lord please take me home…God knows it’s been too long since I’ve been home to see you

The way you kiss my face…tell me everything’s okay…God knows that I will not forsake you….That southern Song

Put them hands up in the air … Let em know that we are here!!

Hold them fists into the sky…let em know that we will fly

Come Morning Time I’ll be up and gone with another town and another Southern….

Chorus

Breakdown…Metal Breakdown…

Solo

Final Chorus:….God knows that I’ve been sent to save you…That Southern Song!!

We've yet to have it recorded...that's coming ASAP...however...here's a link to a live video of us in San Antonio: Southern Song If I were you I would check it out :)

For What it's Worth!

So you might be asking yourself, where does Matt get all these intriguing titles...??...well that's for me to know and you to find out...so stay tuned, I'm sure you'll figure it out, in the words of my Ol' man, "If you think hard enough, you'll think of something!!"

So, let's see, this past weekend, what a blitz across Texas...Friday we spilled into rush hour traffic in Austin and trekked 3 hours to north Houston (Spring) and played to a packed out bar...thanks so much to our com padres in HTX, "Holy Hell Rod" ... they were bad ass, and remember that name, cause I'm gonna bring them to Austin for some shows...remember you heard it here first!! Several High Life's and a couple shots of whiskey later...we were piled back into the SSP Speed Machine (aka Marc's Trailblazer) and back to ATX we were headed.

Now I want to take a side step here and inform you of something...I'm sure we're all familiar with the concept that Marlboro used creatively coined, "Marlboro Miles". Well Miller High Life does the same thing, and I just found that out. Basically you buy a 12 pack of High Life ($6!!) and on the case it comes in, there's a code, you enter that code online and points are added...after so many points you get cool stuff like shirts, hats, etc. Here's the link...I signed up...one more reason to drink High Life!! HIGHLIFE

Alright, now back to business...after arriving back in ATX @ 6 am, sleep soon found us for a couple hours before getting back up and making our way to San Marcos where we had another excellent show with our pals Butcherwhite and Cannon. And as for yesterday, I'm sure just as most of you all, we watched the Super Bowl, and where as I didn't have a dog in that hunt, I was glad to see the Saints win also, Drew Brees (Saint's QB)is from Austin...so hellz yeah!!

So what's on the plate for the Rowdiest band in rock n roll for this week?? Well as always new material is constantly being written, and Friday night we go to San Angelo, back out to the Deadhorse!!

Then Saturday back down to San Antonio to play Zombies...this is a newer venue and we haven't played there, but have heard good things...anxious to see how it turns out! As always there's a lot more going on, but I"m hesitant to tell it until I know it's true...so keep on the up and up with SSP join us on facebook...myspace...gayface...and all the other good ones!!!

Til the End!
Matt

Living in America

So this guy goes to get his morning paper and opens the door...on the front step there sits a snail...he reaches down and picks up the snail and throws it over the top of his house...

2 years later there's knock at the door and the guy goes to answer it, looks down and it's that same snail and he says, "What the Eff did you do that for??"

That never gets old...never. Took that poor snail 2 whole years to get back to the front door...however...he kept on truckin...food for thought.

So...it's Wednesday...and it's raining. Most people bitch about the rain, but after driving for 2 years with nothing but a bikini top on my jeep...I welcome the rain...as long as I have my hard top.

This past weekend we played in San Antonio at a killer bar, Clicks. It's a great venue, with an awesome crowd, cold beer and a whopping stage. We had a killer show and are scheduled to be back on March 6th.

Here are 2 video's that were shot live on stage:

Southern Song
NoWhere

Check em out...they are pimpadelic!! Those, by the way, are 2 new songs that will be on SSP's new album, in which we anticipate to start recording at the end of this month. So hang tight on that one kiddies...we'll be serving up your Hard Southern Rock N Roll medication soon enough.

This Friday we travel to North Houston to play 19th Hole in Spring Texas. It's going to be a killer show, we always love going to 19th hole...it's an awesome experience.

Saturday night we travel to San Marcos...home of Texas State...where we'll be taking the stage with our good friends Butcherwhite and new Buds, Cannon.

This one also will blow your pants off...so my advice to you would be to put the kiddos to bed and get your game face...cause we're bout to set San Marcos on fire!!

So let's see what else is going on...well I started a new diet, "If it has a head you can eat it..." got that one from Sylvester Stallone while training for Rocky 3...the one where he fought Mr. T. Rocky is bad ass ... fo reelz! Down from 213 to 206. I have to keep this Lovin Machine in shape.

SXSW is coming up...as normal...they don't pick any local bands, however last year Metallica played, I hear they needed the exposure LMAO...it is a lot of fun, I personally am off all 3 days and will prowl the streets of ATX looking for cold beer and live music I can dance to. There is a couple other festivals that go on during the same time period as SXSW, but unfortunately the entire thing has been overshadowed by the almighty dollar...hence the title...Living in America. Where Cash is King! And I'm not talking about Johnny Cash, I wish he was king...hell I just wish he was still here.

In the words of Biff Tannen: "Imma make like a tree and get outta here!"
