This is Thirteeeeeen!!!!

Alright Alright Alright...Tuesday bringing the pain. This past weekend was a blast off fo reelz!! Friday we headlined Red Eyed Fly and played to a packed house...always a good time. We debuted 2 new songs, "Middle of Nowhere" and "Liquor Roulette"...I feel they went over very well...finished out the night with "Blind in Texas" always a crowd pleaser. It's always surreal for me when we play that song, I can remember sitting in an apartment in West Virginia, I had heard that song on XM Radio and fell in love with it. I remember telling people, when I move to Austin (I had made the decision to move to Austin...just getting my shit straight)...I'm going to play that song!! So Friday night was a definite success!!

Saturday we traveled to North Houston to play Crazy Frogs...decent crowd, we're still building in that area, but you know how to get to Carnegie Hall?? That's right kiddo's...Practice!! Got home about 6am...slept until roughly 4 pm...awoke to greet the day and venture to Alligator Grill (where they filmed the movie The Office).

Now...this is where the story gets interesting...I had been talking to Keef about the new movie out, "Anvil" ... the documentary about the band, Anvil. So I went and rented it and watched it. Now I'm not going to act as if I'm an Anvil History Buff...cause I'm not, however I had heard of them. After watching the movie, I was truly impressed with the amount of dedication these guys have...over 30 years of heavy metal...and they never gave up...just flat out impressive.

So...as I'm enjoying the gumbo from Alligator Grill, I get online and to my extreme excitement I find out that Anvil is playing Austin the very next Day!! So did I go??? You bet your sweet ass I did...and it was awesome, not only did Anvil put on a killer show, from Robo's drum solo to Lips playing his guitar with...well you'll have to watch the movie...to actually getting to shake their hands and get some pictures...flat out amazing...the best Monday night I've had in a long time...

Next up for SSP, Saturday night @ Clicks in San Antonio, great bar, killer stage and Winston the Sound man loves his whiskey...should be a great night!!

Till Next Time...in the words of Lips (front man for Anvil):
"Metal on Metal...it's all that I CRAVE!!"

I Don't Wanna Stop!!

I found out one very valuable trick over the past nights...2 glasses of box wine puts you to sleep like an ol' dog tired of learning new tricks...fyi.

That's your free lesson for the day, the next one will cost ya.

So what's up with SSP...hmmm...well what isn't up with SSP is more the question. I predict this year to be the year of the Snake ... the Chinese don't know what they are talking about...this year will belong to SSP...you wait and see.

We're booked up over the next several months, about ready to start burning up and down the roads of this great state...here's our schedule:

Get Gigs
Quantcast

So check it...when we get close you need to come hang.

What else...we discussed the new tunes and plans for the new album...so I won't beat that dead horse...yet :)

Keith got a killer new AXE for his birthday, Dean Razorback...he'll be debuting that bitch @ the show on Friday...he's been wanting one of those for a while. I'm currently waiting to hear back on a couple endorsement deals (I'll keep the names on the DL for now) but if they go through, it's gonna be pretty pimp...so I'm excited about that.

I've started reading Nikki Sixx's 'heroin diaries' again...in waiting for my Dimebag Darrell biography...effin Half.Com should be called, 'year and a half.com' cause that's how long it takes to get anything. I find it very interesting to read about people that have succeeded at what we're trying to do. I feel like by reading about them, their good decisions and bad decisions, maybe we can avoid some stumbling blocks. Thus far I have read:

Motley Crue "The Dirt"
Nikki Sixx "Heroin Diaries"
Slash
Axl Rose "W.A.R."
Van Halen "Everybody wants some"
Willie Nelson

And am waiting on Dimebag's. So if I ever get it, we'll see what jewels of knowledge he may have held.

My brutha will be home from his 3rd tour overseas, I'm super excited to see him. I'm glad he's getting to come back home...and hopefully he won't have to go back. I'm very thankful for our troops and the services they provide. If I had it my way, veterans wouldn't have to work...after risking their life for us...I don't think they should have to. I think they should be taken care of the rest of their life...maybe one of these days when I run for public office I'll take care of that :).

Now that I think about it I have a lot of things I have to do when I become the next Leader of the Free World!

Until then..
"After many years of smoke, loud music, and one night stands, I'm very proud to say that I don't need glasses, I still drink straight from the bottle" - David Lee Roth

Salute...come see me Friday, I’ll give you a hug!

Red River Here I Come!!

Well it's FRIDAY!! WOO HOO...time to get my freak on.. :)

SSP hasn't played a show since Dec 11 and I'm about ready to pop. Tonight I'm gonna hit Headhunters for Butcherwhite and possibly Red Eyed Fly for Honky...if that ain't a bloody nose of rock n roll I don't know what is.

Practice was good Wednesday night, me and Keefers drank some captain and came away with 2 new songs I feel pretty solid about. Just need to refine them and put them through the SSP blender and hopefully they'll be ready for the Jan 22 show @ Red Eyed.

Booked our first NON-SXSuckWest show...@ Headhunters March 16th (Tuesday)...

Also, we're tentatively set to hit the studio @ the end of Feb...hope to release our 2nd album by this summer. It's gonna be kickass...with up to 10 new songs...and we're thinking of bringing over Alcohol of Fame.

Reason being, the new studio we have available to us, Sugar Hill in Houston, is the Cats ASS!! We're really curious to see how Alcohol comes out with our current set up...so we're excited to do that.

Alright well that's enough for now...I also thought about posting some lyrics and since we're talking about Alcohol of Fame...here ya go...learn em and maybe you can sing em next show :)

Sometimes sunshine, and sometimes rain
Sometimes a little bit of nothing can drive a man insane
A whole lot of trouble and a whole lot of pain
A whole lot of bloodline brings the alcohol of fame

Should I be happy or should I be ashamed
Rather or not you even know my name
If I could would I or feed it all the same
Guess that’s the price you pick in the alcohol of fame

I don’t know if I’m right or wrong, life feels empty so I sing my songs
In the end it’s all the same living life in the alcohol of fame

The nights are lonely and the mornings are so hard
Sometimes my only friend is this beat up ol guitar
The wheels are humming against that ol’ highway
So much time to think but nothing, nothing much to say

I don’t know if I’m right or wrong, life feels empty so I sing my songs
In the end it’s all the same living life in the alcohol of fame

You bare that cross for the kings and queens, you gotta bare that cross for the heroin fiends
Bare that cross for your family and friends you gotta bare that cross till the bitter end
Bare that Cross…come on bare that cross…bare that cross…come on bare that cross

Sometimes sunshine, and sometimes rain….sometimes a little bit of nothing brings the alcohol of fame

Hello...BABY!!

Hola...

So I figured you might be interested in what's going on with SSP...I sure as hell know I am. :) Considering it's draining my wallet and my life expectancy quicker than I can drain a bottle of cheap whiskey. So with that said, I'm gonna keep this updated as much as possible...keep ya in the loop...tell ya the funny shit that happens on and off the road...on and off the stage...in and outta the bed...

So let's see...where to start...well it's 2010...and SSP has been rocking for almost 3 years!! I personally can't believe it, however, I would be lying if I say I didn't expect it. Similar to a crackhead...when you give rockers something they can use...we sure as well will!!

Last show was Red Eyed Fly (Corner of 8th & Red River Austin TX) on December 11th, and it was a riot with Drunk Santa...Drunk female Elves...and Drunk everyone else...it was definitely a night to remember.

Next show is Jan 22 @ the Fly...that's our home field...I can remember this time 2 years ago when we had our first show @ the fly...on a Tuesday night I think...cold...we somehow managed to get 30 of our friends and family out to watch us...propel us to our rightful rock n roll palace of wednesday nights!! LOL...gotta love the fly hands down...

There has been a lot of time between 12/11 and 1/22...so here's a rundown on what we've been up to:

-drinking
-girls
-smoking
-writing new material
-starting rumors
-going downtown
-eating junkfood

That's about it... :) Livin the life!!

Alright, well that's it for today...again, I will write as much as possible...feel free to do with it what you will.
